SERVICES

Material and color research for CMF design strategy
Creative workshop exploring trends and materials

We work with teams at moments when clarity, inspiration, or a shift in perspective is needed. Our services are built to create space to think differently about design, innovation, and processes.

We help teams step out of everyday routines, slow down when needed, and reconnect with what matters. Our work is grounded in context and shaped with care. It is practical, relevant, and built to last, supporting decisions across products, processes and people. Whether through design, consulting or curated experiences, the focus remains the same: translating lived experience into meaningful direction.

Design & Consulting

We understand how complex design decisions are today and how important it is to recognize the right signals. We help companies interpret relevant trends and bring clarity. Our work sits at the intersection of CMF, product development, and design strategy.

(02)

Creative Offsites

We combine long-standing industry experience with design and innovation methods, experimental formats, curated studio visits, and direct access to unique places, inspiring people, and Berlin’s creative energy. Teams gain new perspectives to move ideas forward.

(03)

Strategic Resets & Co-Creation

We help teams step outside familiar systems. We support them in navigating complex questions and creating space for exchange and collective thinking. This creates an atmosphere where teams can refocus on what matters most, away from screens and back-to-back meetings.

(04)

Signals & Insights

We create exclusive foresight reports that capture signals across design, subcultural movements, lifestyle shifts, aesthetic codes, colors, and materials. We follow these developments where they emerge and take shape.

(05)

Talks & Keynotes

When teams need thoughtful input and meaningful exchange, we bring creative spirit directly to you, into your company. Through talks and sessions, we translate insights from design, innovation, cultural change, and aesthetic movements into content that inspires thought and sparks conversation.

We design with care

Thoughtful curation is a form of attention. We focus on what feels relevant, considered, and meaningful. The intention is to create space for reflection, connection, and clarity.

We make experience usable

We spend time in real places, listening and observing. We translate aesthetics, signals, colors, materials, and methods into implications and strategies for product, processes or teams.

(03)

We create atmospheres

We carefully shape space, tools, materials. and the atmosphere to create environments where teams can focus on what matters, think freely, and develop new ideas and solutions.

We curate encounters

We believe creativity is contagious, and conversation is a catalyst. We bring people together through presence and insights that continue to unfold.

We design attentively

We listen closely, respond to context, and shape each project around what is needed. Methods are chosen deliberately to fit the team, the challenge and the moment.

Experience-driven. Curated. Relevant.

We understand how industry teams operate. We pay attention, ask the right questions, and focus on what’s really there. This allows meaningful solutions to take shape through real encounters, cultural proximity, and careful translation. We work out of curiosity and in close collaboration, staying connected to the creative ecosystem around us. Every project is different. It’s shaped by the people involved, the context, and the intention behind it.

ABOUT

Founder
z_DSC05786.jpg

HAUSMICHEL was founded by Susan Michel, a Berlin-based product designer with extensive international experience rooted in design, innovation, and strategic creative work. Her professional background includes leading roles at OPEL and FORD, where she helped shape CMF (Color, Material & Finish), design strategy, experience design, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Educated at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK), she brings a deep understanding of materiality, cultural context, and the development of design processes that connect creative thinking with real-world application.

Drawing on years of experience inside global organizations, Susan understands the moments when teams need inspiration, perspective shifts, and meaningful input to open up new ways of thinking. Through curated offsites, immersive formats, and context-driven collaboration, HAUSMICHEL translates lived experience into relevant impulses for products, processes, and the people behind them. This is particularly relevant in moments when something is shifting: at the start of a new project, when goals need clarity, when fresh impulses for what comes next are missing, when ways of working are ready to be rethought, when the next step is still unclear, or when teams want to grow and expand their methods.

Founder's Note

As the daughter of a master tailor, I grew up in a creative environment surrounded by fabrics, materials, fashion students, and lively exchange. Early on, I experienced how projects take shape through dialogue, how perspectives shift, and how something new can emerge through observation, conversation, and translation.

My studies at the Berlin University of the Arts deepened this understanding further. For me, Berlin became a space of creative possibility, a place where I learned to understand design as a way of thinking and being.

I worked internationally in design and innovation at OPEL and FORD, I developed products and strategies, transformed processes, and built teams. Throughout that time, I was also driven by the desire to create spaces for inspiration through immersive field trips, inspiring encounters, workshops, new design processes, international research methods, and offsites where teams could work together on vision, clarity, and direction.

Today, I bring these worlds together by combining my industry experience with a deep trust in creative freedom, materiality, encounter, and cultural exchange. This is how formats emerge that intentionally create inspiration and relevant impulses for products, processes, and the people behind them.

HAUSMICHEL is not a house, it's an idea. It stands for exchange, resonance, and the openness from which something new can emerge. It was born from a desire to encounter creativity where it lives. We create space for connection. Between people, disciplines, materials, and perspectives. Our work sits at the intersection of industry and creative culture, shaped by more than 15 years of experience in automotive design, strategic innovation and product development. We spend time in studios, workshops, and spaces where ideas are shaped through daily practice. Based in Berlin, we move through a city that is never finished and never fixed. This rhythm informs how we work: attentive, present, and open to process.

Through HAUSMICHEL, teams gain access to a living creative field of perspectives, skills, and experience, activated according to context. Selected voices are brought into projects and conversations where relevant, keeping the work flexible, grounded, and closely connected to practice.
